Sayonara Nihon
Lamest thread title ever, I know.
I’m sitting here in an internet cafe in Shinagawa, sipping overpriced ice tea and wondering where the time went.
Five years.
Unfortunately, after having slept only a few short hours last night thanks to one particularly obtuse friend who took the pleasure of using my computer for several hours to apply for jobs online while Judy and I scuttled around him, organizing the last of our belongings and thoroughly cleaning the apartment, I’m not exactly in a frame of mind to wax sentimental. I probably will at somepoint, though, so consider yourselves warned.
I seriously can’t believe we’re leaving Japan tomorrow. A new life awaits us. . . here’s hoping it’s a good one!

Jeff…it will be…I hope you keep up with your blog…it’ll be interesting to see the comparisons between Japan and the States and the challenges of settling in.

Hey Jeff,
Good luck back in the US. It has given me a lot of pleasure to watch your blog from time to time over the last months/years. Because my wife, my company … are Japanese I have been in Japan countless times, but you have managed to suprise me so many times and to let me see several (numerous already seen) things from different angles. That’s why I like your blog and I hope you keep up with it also in the US.
I second the statement of Karen; It’s not really your location.
Another thing I would like to add. I really appreciate it that you are not jumping to conclusions and that you are not arrogant in your views about Japan, which are - obviously just in my opinion - not the most common attributes for your fellow countrymen, hehe. OMG, SCNR.
