A lot of Japanese people seem to see statements like "black people are violent," "Chinese people are criminals," etc., as undisputed fact and don't understand how someone could be offended by, or disagree with, something that "everyone knows." I even once met a guy at a bar who told me that there is no racism in Japan because there are no black people here. :shock: Haha, I know what you mean.
